Perhaps we can have a fun/playful kayak 'race' at the Nov. cookout (if everyone votes for) ...  or  rally at Marker 2, if we get 3 boats out, and SAIL to a mark and back ....  or people can save their left over jack-o-lanterns and make a boat from half and add a sail and we can have a mini-race in the marina ...

Pets And Dogs Out on The Bay PDF Print E-mail

Taking a dog on a boat requires some forethought. A dog that adapts to a boating environment is a wonderful companion and an extra playmate for the kids, adding to the fun of going out on the bay.  If our dog has never been out on a boat, don't assume the dog will have fun.

Dogs, and animals in general, prefer stable surfaces and many are fearful of water. If your pet trembles at the sight of water, don't force or stress it. Before taking your dog boating, allow it to get acquainted with the boat while it's on the trailer or at dock.

Most of all, get your dog accustomed to wearing its own PFD.  People aren't the only beings who would wear a PFD while boating.  Make sure the DFD (Dog Floatation Device) fits securely; if possible allow your dog to practice swimming while wearing it. If your dog has never worn a flotation device, he or she may resist at first.

I love dogs and enjoy seeing them out on the bay, but remember, their safety should be your concern as well.
